Chad Thomas-William Pratt is a lifelong runner, devoted father, and passionate community servant whose journey stretches from California’s high school track circuits to the historic grounds of Durham University in England.
Chad’s athletic journey began at Loyola High School in California, where he donned the blue and white as a proud member of the Cubs’ track and cross country teams. There, he etched his name into school records with a blistering 4:45 mile and a 9:56 two-mile, performances that earned him distinction across Southern California’s competitive prep scene.
He continued his athletic and academic career at Santa Clara University, where he competed in both cross country and track. One of the defining moments of his collegiate career was running in the Notre Dame College C.A.T. Kiki C Championship in 1982, a memorable race that underscored his perseverance and passion for the sport.
Chad later took his talents across the Atlantic to Durham University in Durham, England, where he proudly represented the college in track and cross country. While abroad, he had the rare distinction of competing at Crystal Palace in London, clocking an astonishing 4:35 mile—a personal best. Perhaps most notably, Chad once outran Olympic medalist Steve Cram, marking a highlight in his distinguished running career.
Beyond the track, Chad has faced life’s greatest trials with resilience and faith. A widower and single father of two, he has committed himself to raising his children with strength and grace. A devout Catholic, Chad serves faithfully as an usher at his local parish and is a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, a men’s volunteer organization dedicated to charity and community service.
Chad Thomas-William Pratt embodies endurance, both on the track and in life. His story is one of quiet strength, humility, and unwavering devotion to faith, family, and fellowship.
